This 1990 wood carving of a barefoot woman using a wash board is in very good condition. There are no cracks or chips, and the paint is bright, smooth and even.
It was made by Puerto Rican "artesano" Neftale Negron Marrero of Corozal, Puerto Rico.  His signature and the carving date is on the bottom of the base. Negron Marrero is included in the Museo de Santos y Arte Nacional in San Juan, Puerto Rico and is the son of "santero" Jose Luis Negron (1928-2009), who is also listed.
