John F. Kennedy was the youngest elected President of the United States, serving as the 35th President of the United States from 1961 to 1963. Kennedy is regarded as a pioneer of American liberalism, but he also played a pioneering role in American space exploration, having voted with Congress to create the Apollo space programme.

Kennedy was assassinated on 22 November 1963 during a political tour. His death, which shocked the entire nation, has been the subject of many theories, but the exact circumstances remain unclear.

The coin was issued in Niue, where it is legal tender with a face value of $5. The obverse features the coat of arms of the issuing country, while the reverse is decorated with a portrait of John F. Kennedy and the inscription "A Time for Greatness", the famous motto of the President.
