Fresh from an estate comes this vintage Kantronics UTU "Universal Terminal Unit", an interface device that connects between your radio and computer to allow for various digital communications.

I am unable to fully test this, but I did apply power and the appropriate lights came on so there is a good chance that it works. I only have the base unit, this auction does not include the power supply (a simple 12v wall wart), interface cables or the manual. The manual can be found online.

Kantronics says:

"The Kantronics Universal Terminal Unit is a new type of computer/transceiver interface. With the UTU, a computer, and your transceiver, your station becomes a complete /CW/RTTY/ASCII/AMTOR send-receive communications facility.

While most systems require additional software to operate, the UTU uses an internal microprocessor to send and receive in all four coded amateur formats. Connection to your computer is via RS232 or serial port. In this way, the UTU is universal to many different computers. Only a short basic "terminal" program is required to operate the system."
