This is a true vintage item from the late 1960's (please refer to the Schott NYC Forum for the history of their labels through the decades). The jacket / car coat is made of hand cut Steerhide.Steerhide is a bovine leather made from the hide of male cows, known as steers. A readily available leather to most manufacturers, steerhide is consistent in grain and weight throughout the hide, and usually has a subtle gloss-sheen thanks to a combination of natural oils and resins used in the tanning process.

The jacket is in amazing condition for it's age and oozes plenty of authentic vintage charm.

All pockets, lining, stitching, original zips are in tact with no tears, holes or flaws.

The modern day equivalent version of this jacket is 'STYLE: P631 - 'Waxy Buffalo Car Coat with Mouton Collar and retails at $830 from Schott NYC.

This genuine vintage classic is a far superior ancestor at a fraction of the price.
