This rare, antiquarian book titled "Conquest of the Sioux or War-path and Bivouac” by John F. Finerty is a first edition hardcover published by M. A. Donohue & Co. in Chicago, IL. The book is an original, and printed in 1890. It is 134 years old, and in very good condition. It is listed In Tal Luther’s Custer High Spots as #43. The author dedicated this work to the U.S. Army with whom he served as a reporter out in the field during the Great Sioux War and its many battles including the battle of the Rosebud, the Custer Massacre, the Fight on War Bonnet Creek, the Fight at Slim Buttes and so on. This is a valuable, first hand account told by a newspaper correspondent, who was there with the Army sharing their dangers, privations, and hardships during the campaign. This book would be a valuable addition to any collection on military, war or Americana.
