This is a large, solid brass charger style decorative wall hanging that has a striking three dimensional relief image in the center.  It was made to look like it is bi-metal with a wide, polished brass rim and center area which is mainly darker and looks like bronze.  It is quite heavy as well.  I think the center is unpolished brass with a roughened and possibly darkened surface to accentuate the light and shadows on the piece.  You can see polished brass highlights in the pictures in different areas of the plaque.  The scene is fabulous, I found a few similar pieces online, but none with this imagery.  It depicts a large pagoda style building looming up over a large wall.  The wall is very thick as you can see in the doorway that has been made in it.  Looks like the forbidden city.  To one side of the wall is a small garden area, to the other a group of three people that looks like a family.

I believe that this one is Chinese, based more on the image than anything.  The woman's robe looks more like Chinese than Japanese to me and the imposing wall could be seen as a symbol for China.  It is not marked that I can tell anywhere and I haven't found anything definitive on these types of pieces.  Any info would be appreciated.  It measures 13" diameter.

Thank you for taking a look!  Hopefully you'll check out my other items.  I'm a long term picker who has specialized in antiques and collectibles for over 20 years and look for something a little different, hence the name.  I've been a warehouse and restaurant manager so understand how to pack for success and give good customer service.  Feel free to look at my feedback page.  I do work full time, hence the three day shipping allowance, but I do try to get them out the next day when possible.  It also makes me sometimes slower than I'd like answering questions or putting on new items, but I will get back to you as soon as I can and try not to be lazy about getting listings on.  Thanks for looking and feel free to write me with any questions or new information about my items.  It sometimes gets difficult to exactly identify something and I appreciate feedback and comments from the eBay community!  Have a great day and happy hunting!
