History:
Rose Cecil O'Neill (June 25, 1874 – April 6, 1944) was an American illustrator, artist, and writer, creator of the popular Kewpies comic book characters. Thanks to the growing popularity of the comics after their publication in 1909, the characters were made into porcelain dolls in 1912 by a German toy company, and later into composite and celluloid dolls. They were very popular at the beginning of the 20th century and were included in the time capsule of the 1939 New York World's Fair. (wikipedia)
