Rare Early Pearlware Childs Miniature Dinner Set Plate

PRIMROSE FLORAL CHINTZ

Charles Meigh Staffordshire England c.1835

This is a rare childs miniature toy dinner plate c. 1835, originally part of a complete children's or dollhouse toy dinner service. The plate measures 3-3/4 inches in diameter, decorated with an overall floral chintz medley of tiny primrose vine and fuchsia flowers on a 10-panel form, transfer printed in green with wisps of blue and red, a perfect colorful and festive piece.

The pattern has been attributed to Charles Meigh in the Staffordshire district in England in the early to mid-19th century. The pattern is especially earthy and beautiful in this forest green. The decoration was elaborately designed with impeccable detailing for the diminutive size of the piece. The pattern name is unknown. The plate is unmarked.

The plate is in great condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Stilt marks, glaze ponding stray paint on the backside and other minor manufacturing flaws, original to the making, adding to the authenticity and not detracting from the beauty. The design is elegant and striking and will make a wonderful display and a rare addition to any collection of childrens or miniature dolls elegant table wares, pocket sized works of art. Sold as is.
