UDOLPHO WOLFE TYPE BOTTLE WITH NO EMBOSSING.  YELLOW/AMBER.  8" X 2 3/8."  THIS BOTTLE HAS NO CHIP OR CRACKS.  ITS IN GREAT SHAPE WITH LOTS OF LITTLE BUBBLES AND A COUPLE OF BIG ONES.  SMOOTH BASE WITH A TAPER TOP.  JUST MISSED BEING PONTIL.  The aardvark dug this bottle on a hot summer day and was very lucky to hit a huge layer in wood ash that yielded many nice bottles.  7 or 8 Udolpho Wolfes, some pontiled, were among the recovered artifacts.   This bottle was right on the cusp between pontiled and unpontiled.  In this case, I must say that the wood ash seems to have protected the glass all bottles recovered....something to think about as wood could be seen as alkaline, (a base), opposed to any acidic affect...Just an observation I'd like to throw in here... If I ever hit another privy with wood ash, I'll be looking forward to what comes next!  Sorry to say no embossing on this one.   It's akin to the smaller size Udolpho Wolfe's.  A hinge mold you can see on the base.   All in all great condition and a fantastic display for a bitters collector.  The aardvark wishes you well.
