Intricately Detailed Vintage Hand-Carved & Hand-Painted Italian Figural/Mechanical Wine Bottle Cork Stopper Manufactured by ANRI. Circa: 1940's

The History of ANRI:

In the late 19th century, Alois Riffeser traveled around Europe selling wood carved figurines, which were acquired from a small village in the Alps. Soon after, the ANRI Company emerged in 1912 with Josef Anton Riffeser at the Helm. which he named using the first two letters of his first and last name. After World War I, where he was in a prisoner of war camp in Siberia, he formulated his plan for a woodcarving company. He created his own models which he distributed successfully, mainly in the Alpine region.

Each Hand-Carved Wooden Figural Stopper were Caricatures from the Local Villagers who Resided in the Area.
