This listing is for a nice J. B. Owens Art Pottery Standard Glaze "Utopian" ewer decorated with pansies, c. early 1900's.
Standing 6" high, 6" wide and 5" deep.
Wonderful hand painted "Pansies" in the design with beautiful coloration in shades of yellow and orange on a dark brown background. The base is signed with incised Owens trademark "logo" and number "8/2 or 812".
This lovely ewer is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with minor light crazing throughout.
The J. B. Owens Company operated in Zanesville, Ohio from 1891-1907. His first decorated pottery line was called "Utopia" and was a standard brown-ware with underglaze slip decoration similiar to that produced by Roseville, Weller and Rookwood's standard glaze art pottery.
