Priority shipping within Europe takes approx 7 - 13 working days (excluding Russia, mediterranean Islands and offshore states which may take longer)

Gladiator Wooden Chess Set





This wooden chess set is handmade in the mountain region of Southern Poland.


The board doubles up as a box containing the pieces with the design carved into the wood. The dark squares are stained dark brown in colour, the lighter squares are left as natural wood. The number/letter references are near black and the board is lacquered to provide the perfect finish.

The Chessmen are weighted and made from sycamore wood, which is turned and carved by hand.

The dark pieces are stained a similar colour to the dark squares on the board, the lighter pieces are natural wood. The pieces also have a lacquered finish.

The playing board measures approx 59cm x 59cm x 3cm when open and approx 59cm x 28.5cm x 6cm when closed.

The approximate weights & sizes of the pieces are as follows,

 King :  90g, 145mm tall, 48mm base.

Queen : 75g, 140mm tall, 48mm base.

Bishop : 80g, 135mm tall, 48mm base.

Knight : 65g, 125mm tall, 48mm base.

Castle : 65g, 125mm tall, 48mm base.

Pawn : 40g, 90mm tall, 35mm base.
