Welcome to Antiques & Moore!

This listing is for a lovely Art Deco Period Sterling Silver and 18K gold dance/coin purse with compact.

The exterior of the case has a beautiful yellow gold and rose gold stripe inlaid on sterling silver body. Rectangular cartouche on upper left corner with monogram "M. B.". The interior is fitted with two coin holders (one for nickels and one for dimes)with a make-up mirror compartment on one side (mirror broken needs to be replaced). The other side of the interior has a hinged card or money holder.

The decorative support is marked "Sterling, 9249" with maker's trademark stamp for "J. E. Blake Co.". Marked on interior rim "Sterling & 18k" and also marked "14k". We believe that one of the gold stripes is 18K and the other is 14K which would clarify the double marking.  Engraved date below nickel coin holder "July 20, 1917".

The hinge is in excellent condition, opens and closes correctly.  Has an attached 11" chain for carrying which gives a 5 1/2" drop.

Overall, the case is in very nice condition although there are some minor dings and surface scratches on exterior from normal use (see photos) - no other noted flaws.

 Measures 3/8" high, 3 3/4" long and 2 1/2" wide.

Weighs 117.6 grams.
