For your consideration is this antique harbor scene watercolor painting by well known English artist Albert Moulton Foweraker. (1873-1942) The painting remains in it's original gold painted wood frame that measures not quite 36x26" while the matted image is 27x17 1/2". It is signed by the artist, lower right. I would guess that it dates to maybe 1910 or so. Mr. Foweraker was a well traveled fairly prolific watercolorist known mostly for paintings of his native English architecture and country side. He also traveled to and painted in Spain and France. He was known for his use of a blue hue combined with the addition of light within the work. A quick Google search will bring you up to speed. This represents a major work for this artist. Many of his paintings are small, 10x12" or so and I found nothing that compared to this image. It has the look of the finest Gloucester, Mass. harbor scenes by well known American artists. It remains well preserved in it's original frame and shows only some minor effects of interacting with it's old wooden back. Nothing that detracts from this fine work of art. It is being offered fresh from a New York estate without reserve so help yourself. Please e-mail with any questions, thanks. Shipping is to the lower 48 states and includes insurance.
