You are buying an A4 modern print of the vintage pattern and not the finished item.

This vintage 40s pattern is so useful and economical as all items are made from oddments of yarn or cloth (see below). It consists of two styles of slippers and a wellington sock, with the buttoned slipper (top left of photo) being knitted, the tie boot being crocheted and the wellington sock knitted (which could also be used as a bedrock or slippers, according to the pattern!) and any of which would make a lovely gift or treat for a young child (see below for ages etc.). Regards the wool used, as vintage yarns were heavier than modern, you may want to substitute the vintage 3-ply for a modern 4-ply and a vintage 4-ply for a modern D/K to obtain a similar size as quoted in the pattern.

CROCHET SLIPPERS: (3-4 Years, sole 6 in. long)

Materials- oddments of 3-ply wool, and a little heavy duty 4-ply wool (or 3-ply doubled)

Medium bone hook

For the sole- 2 pieces of soft woollen stuff 6ins. by 3ins. for lining

2 small buttons 


KNITTED BOOTEE SLIPPERS: (3-4 Years, sole 6 in. long)

Materials- heavy 4-ply wool or medium 3-ply used doubled

No.8 needles

For the sole- 4 pieces of thick, strong cloth 

2 pieces of flannel or light woollen stuff

 

WELLINGTON SOCKS: (6-8 Years) 

Oddments of 3-ply wool

No.13 or No.14 needles

2 No.10 needles
