Missouri Pacific Diesels Of The 1980s

If you’ve ever been looking through a book of railroad photography and thought to yourself “I’d love to have a print of that picture,” then this is for you! This disc combines a book of railroad photography and information with a railroad photography disc. The book is in an electronic PDF, or Adobe Acrobat format. The book can be viewed on any tablet, computer, and even most smart phones. iPads and iPhones will require the free iBooks app to view.

Union Pacific announced its purchase of Missouri Pacific in 1980, but it wasn’t until late 1982 that the purchase became official. This e-book looks at the diesel power of Missouri Pacific as it was at the time of the merger and is 96 pages in length. Chapters cover most of the types of locomotives on the roster, and a period roster of MoPac power is included. The last chapter looks at the post merger era, but the vast majority of photos are pure Jenks Blue with the Screamin’ Eagle!

The book is organized by chapters on each type of locomotive, including EMD switchers, GP18, GP35 rebuilds, GP38, SD40, GP15, GP50, U30C, U23B, B23-7, and B30-7A. These are followed by a chapter of general MoPac scenes from the 80s and a chapter on the post-merger era with former MoPac locomotives in Union Pacific yellow. The last chapter is a roster of Missouri Pacific diesels at the time of the merger.

This book features 178 photos, and all photos are from Kodachrome color slides. The majority of photos were taken in Salem and Mount Vernon, Illinois, and St. Louis, Missouri.

Photos included in the e-book are also included on the disc, presented in folders sorted by chapter and organized by page number. Any photo in the book is easy to find. Photos are presented as 200dpi JPEG images, and can easily be printed as an 8x10 for photo albums or framing. Depending on the make and model, some DVD and Blu-Ray players can also play the images on your T.V.

The e-book can be opened directly from the disc on your computer and the contents can be saved to your hard drive, tablet or smart phone by dragging and dropping the files. Files can be transferred to an iPad or iPhone through the iTunes application.

Considering amount of photography and information contained within, the retail price of $15.00 is quite a bargain!
