The background also includes the lightsaber-wielding form of Darth Vader, whose helmet comprises the largest of the fifteen stamps.  The Star Wars Saga souvenir sheet includes fifteen that show familiar characters and vehicles from the first six movies of the saga.

Stamp Descriptions (Printed on the Back of sheet):

For 30 years, the Star Wars Saga has thrilled moviegoers with its epic story of good versus evil. Set across a fantastic galaxy of exotic planets and bizarre creatures, the saga tells the mythic tale of the disintegration of the Old Republic, the creation of the Empire, the rise of the evil Darth Vader, and the ultimate victory of the Rebel Alliance. From the wisdom and power of Yoda to the brave deeds of Jedi Knights and improbable heroes, Star Wars has inspired generations of fans with its unbridled sense of adventure, advancing the art of filmmaking while leaving an indelible mark on our cultural imagination.”

  1. Darth VaderAfter Anakin Skywalker is seduced by the dark side, he becomes a terrifying union of man and machine, Darth Vader. Hidden behind dark robes and fearsome armor, he spreads terror as one of Emperor Palpatine’s most trusted servants.  While commanding the lead Star Destroyer in the massive Imperial Fleet, Vader is determined to hunt down and destroy the Rebel Alliance just as he wiped out the Jedi. But when he tries to lure his son, Rebel hero Luke Skywalker, the sight of Luke writhing in agony at the hands of the Emperor prompts him to self-sacrifice.

  2. Luke SkywalkerAs a simple moisture farmer on the desert planet Tatoonie, Luke dreams of adventures among the stars.  When a distress call from Princess Leia leads him to Obi-Wan Kenobi, he takes his first step into the epic struggle between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire. As he learns the Force, he becomes a new hope for an embattled galaxy.

  3. Han Solo and Chewbacca  - Quick-thinking and skilled with a blaster gun rifle,  Hans is a smuggler, space pirate, and captain of the Millennium Falcon.  When he and his Wookie first mate, Chewbacca, are hired to transport Luke, Hans becomes more involved in the rescue of Princess Leia.  Enamored with Leia and drawn to her cause, Han finds a focus for his flyboy talents.  No longer a reckless adventurer, he becomes the Rebellion’s most courageous heroes.

  4. Princess Leia Organa and R2-D2 – An accomplished senator and daughter of the royal family of Alderaan, Princess Leia becomes the strong willed heroine of the rebels, serving as a symbol of diplomacy, strength, and hope.  Shortly before her capture by the Empire, Princess Leia manages to smuggle a plea for help to Jedi Knight Obi-One through the astromech droid R2-D2.  The resourceful Artoo leads his new owner Luke straight to Obie.

  5. C-3PO - Sometimes spelled See-Threepio and often referred to as Threepio, was a bipedal humanoid Protocol Droid, designed to interact with organics, programmed primarily for etiquette. He was fluent in over six million forms of communication, and developed a fussy and worry-prone personality throughout his many decades of operation. After being destroyed and discarded on the planet Tatooine, C3PO was rebuilt; his salvaged nature gave him special qualities that distinguished him from similar models. Along with his counterpart , the astromech droid R2D2, C-3PO constantly found himself directly involved in pivotal moments of  galactic history, and aided in saving the galaxy on many occasions.

  6. Yoda - is a respected member of the Jedi Council and has no equal in his keen insight into the Force. A wise teacher of young Jedi for 800 years – and remarkably agile with a lightsaber – Yoda goes into hiding on the swamp planet Dagobah after the fall of the Republic.  By ensuring his own survival, he helps his last apprentice, Luke Skywalker, to fulfill his destiny, thus honoring the Jedi legacy and finally restoring peace to the galaxy.

  7. Obi-Wan KenobiWhen the Republic fall, the greatest fear of Kenobi is realized: his former apprentice Anakin has turned to the dark side and been named Darth Vader, Dark lord of the Sith. Obi confronts his old friend on the volcanic lava planet of Mustafar, where their fierce lightsaber duel leaves a severely wounded Anakin dying on the charred gravel of a hellish world and forever changes the destiny of the galaxy.

  8. Emperor Palpatine – After manipulating the corrupt bureaucracy of the Republic into his personal Empire, Palpatine instills fear far and wide. Twisted by greed, ambition and power, the tyrannical Sith Lord joins his apprentice Vader in attempting to turn Skywalker to the dark side a move that ultimately leads to the Emperor’s demise – Triumph of good over evil .

  9. Stormtroopers Abandoning individuality for conformity, Storm Troopers represent the most visible extension of Imperial power and might.  Deployed in overwhelming huge lots, they put down insurrections and maintain oppressive order on the far- flung worlds of the Empire.  Varying planetary conditions often call for specially trained and equipped battle units, such as sandtroopers for arid desert worlds, the snowtroops, who besiege the ice world of Hoth and the lightly armored scout troopers on speeder bikes who patrol the Ewok forest planet of Endor.

  10. Boba FettCloned from an infamous bounty hunter and raised as his son, Boa Fett witnesses his father’s death at the hands of Jedi Master Mace Windu.  Inheriting his father’s deadly skills, he becomes the most notorious fugitive recovery agent in the galaxy- and perfect choice to track down the Falcon. Boda Fett manages to capture his quarry but the resulting rescue of Han Solo, and the explosive battle that follow prove that he serverly underestimates the determination of Solo’s associates.

  11. The Millennium Falcon - The Millennium Falcon is a customized old Corellian freighter that, despite its battered appearance, is famous for its slick maneuvers and dangerously-close escapes. In an effort to avoid Imperial entanglements, the Falcon’s worn and weathered exterior suitably conceals its usual cargo of smuggled goods. It has been extensively modified for smuggler captains, and these modifications and refittings have led to never-ending repairs and maintenance. Won in a game of sabacc from gambler Lando Calrissian, the Falcon currently serves as a personal transport to Rebel hero Han Solo and his Wookiee copilot Chewbacca. Frequently escaping Imperial blockades and engaging in suicidal offenses against enemy starships, the Falcon may just be the fastest space vessel in the galaxy.

  12. X-wing Starfighter - The T-65 X-wing starfighter was the primary all-purpose fighter of the Rebel’s and its successor governments. Known for its versatility and exceptional combat performance, it was a favorite with Rebel. Possessing deflector shields, a hyperdrive engine, an R2 astromech droid for repairs and navigation, and a complement of proton torpedoes, the X-wing allowed the Rebellion to launch raids in Imperial space with improved odds of a successful mission. It plays a key role in the Battle of Yavin when Luke Skywalker destroys the Death Stay and achieves the first major victory for the Alliance.

  13. Queen Padmé AmidalaElected ruler of Naboo at only age 14, Queen Padme late serves as a Senator and a beacon of reason in an increasingly fragmented Senate.  Hiding love for and marriage to Jedi knight Anakin Skywalker. She fears for her husband during the Clone Wars and is haunted by the impending demise of the crumbling Republic, not yet aware that she carries a new hope for the Future. Not yet aware that she carries a new hope for future within her:twin children Luke and Leia.

  14. Anakin SkywalkerWhen the Republic falls, the greatest fear of Obi One is realized: his former apprentice Anakin has turned to the dark side and named Darth Vader lord of the Sith Obi wan confronts his old friend on the volcanic lava planet Mustafar where their fierce lightsaber duel leaves a severely wounded Anakin dying on the charred gravel of a hellish world.

When this terrifying apprentice of Darth Sidious battles two formidable Jedi knights, he proves to be Qui-Gon Jinn’s most dangerous adversary, but the young Obi Kenobi permanently ends Maul’s vicious wrath.
