A real old English vintage "four in hand" tubular knit square end tie by Ariel.  Never used.  This tie was unsold shop stock from many decades ago, and has been in storage at the shop for the best part of a century.  It is in near-perfect condition.  However, it will need to be handled more gently than a modern tie.

Some of these ties have little labels marked "Made in England".
None of them have a maker's tag - but I have included some pictures of the ties in their original "paper wraps", which were used to keep them neat in their quarter-dozens.

Judging by the style, the length, and the packaging, I think they were probably made well before the Second World War.

These ties are the "square end" style revived by the post-war "Teddy boys" - but they are CONSIDERABLY shorter than post-war ties.
They were designed, as you might guess from the name,  to be worn with a simple "four in hand" knot - or just crossed over and pinned in place.
(Day collars in the early part of the 20th century were worn very deep, and rarely had room for a bulky or fancy knot.)

Please check the length is right for you.

Width......1  3/4  inches......4.5 cm
Length......  35 inches......90 cm

The neckbands are narrower than the main part of the tie, and offset, so one "end" is longer than the other.

This is a vintage item, and it was made in the days when ties were much shorter than they are today.
You may find the style unfamiliar at first.

They are available in a variety of colours.
The colours are amazingly bright.

There are, of course, no garment care or fabric composition labels (these were rarely used for ties before the 1940s).

The fabric appears to be "art silk" (artificial silk"), but I cannot be sure about this.

Condition:

Unused vintage tie, in near-perfect condition.
