Two original 1887 etchings with the original etching plates (one copper and the other possibly zinc) by William Goodrich Beal measuring approximately 3 3/16 x 5 inches displayed behind glass in a 14 7/8 x 18 3/8 inch frame.  William Goodrich Beal was active in the Boston art scene during the late 19th century and created these etchings in 1887 or earlier (See article below). In 1891, his art studio was listed at 3 Winter Street in Boston. He exhibited at the Chicago Art Institute and his prints are in major collections, including the collection of the National Gallery of Art.  A rare collection.  Thanks for looking.

PICTURESQUE CAMBRIDGE.

A series of six etchings, just published by L. Prang A Co. under the title "Picturesque Cambridge," is attracting special attention among Cambridge people and art lovers elsewhere. The artist is Mr. William Goodrich Beal, a young man hitherto not widely known, but showing 111 this work ability o' a high order. The six etchings are entitled, respectively, "Morning on the River," "Longfellow's Home," "Cambridge on the Charles," "Corner of Massachusetts Hall and Old Churchyard," "Elmwood, Lowell's Home," and "Evening on the Charles." The subjects which Mr. Beal has chosen are as familiar to Cambridge people as the way to church, but their artistic possibilities are now first adequately shown. Mr. Beal has succeeded admirably In the composition of his etchings. They arc true pictures, but they are more than that: they are full of artistic imagination, and they breathe the very spirit of tills ancient and classic city. The etchings, which are published iv a dainty portfolio, at the moderate price of $l.50, an sure to be very popular during this holiday season, not only, but fur many seasons to come.
