Narrative:
- This
view is taken from the Alte Stadt Markt, so named from the old gothic
town hall, which occupies one angle of the square. The large church of
St. Martin with its spires form with the StadtHouse a striking group of
buildings, which cannot fail to interest travellers. A few repairs
would still preserve for a long period many curious portions of the
latter building. Around the church are many remarkable monuments. At
the other extremity of the market place, is a very rich old gothic
bronze fountain, ornamented with a variety of devices, coats of arms,
figures in Alto Relievo, etc. and a beautifully wrought inscription.
