Named after the wife of Jason (of Jason and the Argonauts), the Medea was built in Scotland in 1904 of steel and furnished with imported teak and quarter-sawn oak. She has enjoyed a colorful history serving both military and pleasure pursuits, and now rests at the Maritime Museum of San Diego in California, where she is open dockside and boarded daily by tourists. 

Painted on Nautical Chart of the Firth of Clyde in Scotland, one of the largest sheltered deep water areas in the British Isles.

Adam Koltz is a marine artist and 20 year Navy veteran aboard several classes of ships, including merchant vessels. Adam's attention to detail stems from his intimate knowledge of ships and his passion for accuracy. His understanding of the interaction of ships with the natural forces of wind and water gives his pictures life and vitality. Adam uses pen and ink, as well as watercolor, and depicts the ship or boat on a chart with historical or current significance.
