* This beautiful lettuce variety has frilly leaves and is upward growing.

* This is a great open pollinated lettuce variety to sow in the Spring as it loves cooler temperatures.

* The flavor of the heirloom Black Seeded Simpson is considered to be mild, and is an excellent addition to a salad mix or used on its own.

* It is an easy growing non-GMO lettuce variety that is bolt and heat resistant, and a very popular heirloom variety, and requires little maintenance.

* Black Seeded Simpson is excellent for beginners due to its ease of growth, cold resistance, pest resistance.

*Lettuce is always a great choice for small space gardening on balconies.  It is great in containers because of its small root size.

* Lettuce is a great crop to use as an under plant because it doesn't require full sun and with their growth they can help to smother weeds.

* Black Seeded Simpson is very adaptive and will grow well in a range of climatic conditions unlike many other lettuce varieties.

* Make sure to germinate Black Seeded Simpson at cooler temperatures of 40-68 Fahrenheit as warm temperatures will induce dormancy in lettuce varieties and other leafy greens like Mache.

Sowing Method-Direct of Indoors for germination

Germination Temperature-Do NOT germinate above 68 Fahrenheit as this can induce thermal dormancy in lettuce.

Sowing Depth-Surface sow but make sure to lightly press seeds into premoistened germination media.

Seeds are packaged in a small poly bag. In an effort to keep costs low, and pass the savings onto you, we do not offer specific planting directions on seed packets. If you cannot locate planting instructions for your specific conditions, contact us and we'll do our best to instruct you on the proper methods.
