Our story began seven generations ago in 1837. This was the year our ancestor opened the family's original fabric mill in rural North Carolina, producing some of the first dyed and plaid fabrics in the southeastern United States. Up until the late 1990's, textiles continued to flourish in North Carolina but as the turn of the 21st century approached, the industry began eroding at a breathtaking pace. Throughout the early 2000's, manufacturing operations moved overseas and historic mills were left empty and shuttered. Multi-generational family businesses went into bankruptcy, countless workers lost their jobs and the hosiery market became overrun with poor quality socks.
In 2010, we decided to make a stand for quality hosiery and traditional American manufacturing by launching our own line of dress socks. Boardroom Socks was brought to life by combining our network of apparel designers, yarn suppliers and local knitters. Every pair of Boardroom Socks is knit and hand-inspected in North Carolina, just a short drive from the site where our fabric mill was built over 175 years ago. These deep North Carolina roots are why the state outline is included in our logo and stamped on each pair of socks.
