THIS LISTING IS FOR A WONDERFUL EARLY 19TH CENTURY HAND MADE BRIDE'S BOX WITH ORIGINAL RED PAINT AND HAND PAINTED "1824" ON THE FRONT SIDE.

 MEASURES 6 1/4" HIGH, 13" WIDE AND 8 1/4" DEEP.

THE BASE OF THIS NICE BOX HAS WIDE OVER LAPPING 2-FINGER JOINTED BAND CONSTRUCTION WITH A WOODEN CARVED POST MOUNTED AT EACH SIDE TO CATCH THE FLAT LID AND HOLD IT IN PLACE. THE WOOD IS ALL HAND PLANED AND THE NAILS USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE BODY ARE HAND-MADE AND THE HANDLE IS MADE OF HAND-WROUGHT IRON.

THE BOX HAS GREAT ORIGINAL RED PAINT REMAINING AND IS IN OVERALL VERY NICE CONDITION COMMENSURATE WITH AGE AND NORMAL WEAR. THERE IS VERY MINOR WEAR AT THE TOP CORNERS WITH NOTED WEAR AROUND THE BOTTOM EDGE WHERE IT IS ATTACHED TO THE BODY OF THE BOX. THE SIDE EXTENSIONS AND THE TOP OF THE BOX REFLECT NORMAL WEAR WHERE THEY RUB TOGETHER WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING THE BOX.

 PLEASE VIEW ALL PHOTOS AS PART OF THE DESCRIPTION. THE BOX IS MARKED ON THE INSIDE OF THE WOODEN BASE "HERRGARDSVAXT". HERRGARDSVAXT IS A SWEDISH WORD WITH "HERRGARD" BEING AN ESTATE MANSION AND "VAXT" BEING A PLANT. THE BOX ALSO HAS SOME VERY FAINT UNIDENTIFIED FANCY INITIALS INSIDE.
