We have been active farmers and plant propagators for a number of years, and we specialized in the production of plant plugs, or basically miniature seedlings, for our on farm use. As such, we learned a great deal about seedling production and also the proper storage, handling and identification of quality seeds through intensive hands on experience. LEMONGRASS CYMBOPOGON FLEXUOSUS

* Our heirloom variety of lemongrass is also Non-GMO.

* Lemongrass is reported by many to be a wonderful Mosquito repellent.  Mosquitoes have been shown to avoid Lemongrass because of the strong citrus like smell it possesses.

* The insect and mosquito repelling abilities of lemongrass is reportedly because of its high levels of Citronella.

* To use Lemongrass as a mosquito repellent, just place the plants around the perimeter of the space you want to exclude mosquitoes.  For example, you'd want to place the Lemongrass around a patio, deck or any other outdoor space.

* This highly ornamental, medicinal perennial grass is native to Thailand, India, Burma and Sri Lanka.  It is also called Cochin grass or Malabar Grass.

* The essential oil that is extracted is being studied for its anti-cancer inhibiting abilities.  In addition, the extracted essential oil has anti-bacterial activity and has even been shown to halt the growth of the deadly strain MRSA!

* Lemongrass has a citrus flavor and is used extensively in a variety of cuisines including Thai, Vietnamese and Indian dishes among others.  In particular, it is used to flavor curries, sauces, soups, fish and chicken dishes.

* Lemongrass is considered by many to be one of the top seasonings in the world.  It is very aromatic and lends a fantastic flavor to everything it is put in.

* It is also used to flavor teas, ice cream, pastries and even candy!

* Lemongrass is great for container gardening and can be brought indoors during the winter to grow it as a houseplant.  This way you could harvest the wonderful tasting leaves year around to add some zing to your foods!  In the summer, you could place it back outside and let it repel mosquitoes!

* The oil that is extracted from Cymbopogon Flexuosus is shown to have analgesic, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant properties.

* The oil is reported to be excellent for aromatherapy for stress reduction and relaxation.

Seeds are packaged in a small poly bag. In an effort to keep costs low, and pass the savings onto you, we do not offer specific planting directions on seed packets. If you cannot locate planting instructions for your specific conditions, contact us and we'll do our best to instruct you on the proper methods.
