The carver truly knew the anatomy of this trout.

Comparable sculptures sell for many thousands.

This artist apparently used a worm-holed piece of wood (driftwood?) which appears to be cedar.

The entire piece was than scalloped to give the impression of scales.

The dorsal and tail are all part of the whole.

The pectoral fins are separate. One pectoral fin was re-glued to its peg that inserts into body and not apparent except when you view it very closely.

The artwork is also true to this species to include the vermiculation on its back particular to brook (char) trout.

The lower protruding jaw (kype) indicates it is a male.

The driftwood base is great in itself with a dowel that the trout may spin on. Nice to view the trout without moving the base.

I'm packing the trout separate from the gnarly driftwood base but they will both arrive in same large box.
