FABULOUS ARTS CRAFTS NOUVEAU LINEN SILK EMBROIDERED GRAPES PILLOW STICKLEY

Have you ever seen one like this?  A MINT CONDITION Arts and Crafts Era raw linen and silk embroidered pillow that is truly special.  RARE and wonderful motif!   There are a lot of embroidered Arts & Crafts pillows in the world, but there aren't any like this one.  There are clusters of solid purple half-grapes sewn onto the pillow, and each grape measures a tad under 5/8 inch in diameter.  Some of these grapes have shading to them, darker purple.  They grape beads are not hollow, they are solid and made of a material that is like Bakelite.  You will notice it is hand-painted in the leaves and vine area.  A work of art!  Awesome in a room near where wine is being served.

The pillow is firmly stuffed and presents its design beautifully, as seen in the photos.  There are no stains, no issues to report.  Same raw linen on the back side.  The raw linen has a distinctly aged appeal to it.

Silk embroidery was done in the early part of the 20th century, when later in the 20s cotton embroidery became the norm.  I like that the pillow has both embroidery and paint touches, and the beadwork is just wonderful icing on the cake.

This is OLD, antique, and yet is in excellent condition.  It must have been stored very carefully.  It’s not soiled, stained, or even dusty.  It has been in a smoke-free environment and does not have an odor. I've been a dealer of antiques 1930s and earlier for over 30 years, and I have never seen a nicer Arts & Crafts pillow.

A real treasure from the teens, circa 1912—1920.  Imagine how great this will look on your Morris chair or your Stickley sofa, or on your built-in window seat!

It measures 20 inches across and is just under 15 inches tall.  5 inches thick.
