Description
It was mid-1967 and Hubert found himself working again with carburetors and gasoline. Ford had set him up with this 1967 Ford Fairlane in the NHRA's Super Stock Eliminator class. This Fairlane came equipped as a factory-built “R-Code”, with a 427 engine, lightweight components and four-speed manual “Top-Loader” transmission. Hubert’s Fairlane was sponsored by long-time Indianapolis Ford dealer, Paul Harvey Ford. Hubert and his "Georgia Shaker" Fairlane proved to be a terror at the drag strip, winning many of the races that he entered.
