THIN LIZZY. CHINATOWN POSTER. By Jim FitzPatrick
Not long ago I came across a copy of my original Thin Lizzy Chinatown poster from 1981 via Peter Neilson and his superb Thin Lizzy pages on Facebook, as I never had a copy of it myself -and only remembered it in the front windows of record stores all over London. Usually, Philip made sure I got a copy of all the covers and the spin-offs like posters and merchandising but I never had a copy of that one myself. I know I gave tons of my printed Lizzy stuff away to friends and fans at the time but not this one.
Here’s my reconstructed version of that same poster -from the original 4”x 5” colour transparencies of the stolen artwork.
I closed down the large black space in the centre which was designed to allow the later inclusion of gig venues and dates. I reckon it now looks the biz restored as the original without the flaws and the creases.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
For anyone who knows anything ABOUT THE THEFT OF THIS IMPORTANT WORK I intend next month to publicize this stolen artwork via social media and offer a large reward for information leading to it’s recovery.
The front cover art of the circular dragon and the back cover art of the dragon head both went missing en route to me from London toDublin (or so I was told) back in 1981. Time for justice. This was one of my finest album cover paintings and I want it back.
