Narrative:
At the end of the 19th Century, photography was becoming the medium of choice for making prints of  the original works of art. Until then, the engraving was the  predominant medium used for this purpose. The engravers,  challenged by this new competitive medium, were perfecting their skills and creating wood engravings  of unparalleled accuracy, quality and beauty. They became works of art in their own right. The print offered here for sale is one of those works of art.
