ITEM: Antique brass bird whistle know as "Watch The Birdie" because it was used by professional photographer to get the attention of the young ones in front of their camera. These first appeared in the 1870's and were made at least until the 1920's. There are no maker marks on this one as far as I can tell. It's about 4 1/2" tall and about 5" wide with the tube attached.

CONDITION. The whistle shows it's age by the patina in the brass. Undeniable integrity is the phrase that should be used here. Overall, its in very good condition with no obvious dents or breaks. When you blow through the plastic tube (probably not original with the item) both the bird's beak and it's tail flutter and yes, it whistles beautifully like a bird. It gets great reactions from friends and strangers. They love it. The bottom half of the bottom receptacle comes off so you can add water to change the pitch of the whistle, optional. This is a hard to find item, especially in this condition.
