Omega Seamaster gentlemans' gold and stainless steel manual wristwatch manufactured in the 1960's. The case and dial present very well and the freshly oiled and adjusted movement is running strongly and keeping time.  This watch bears the Omega Seamonster emblem on the rear cover which always adds a significant premium to the value of an Omega watch.  The watch is signed four times, on the dial, case, movement and crown.

I have been collecting vintage watches for over twenty five years and selling them as an enjoyable lifestyle occupation since 2003. I have consistently received excellent feedback and many repeat buyers. Customer satisfaction is very important to me so if you do have any problems please get in touch.  I will always do my best to help. I often assist customers who ask for my help several years after they have purchased a watch from me; so once you have bought a watch, you will remain an important customer. You can email me if you wish to ask any questions.

Dial:  finished in a white lightly textured finish, signed "Omega Seamaster Swiss Made".  Gold coloured batons and Arabic mark the hours.  The hands are in good shape and the crystal  is clean and clear.  The dial has just been returned from restoration back to as it looked when new,

Case: gold lugs and signed crown with a stainless steel body in very good condition, measuring approximately 34 mm across, excluding the signed crown and 40 mm from lug to lug.  It is signed Omega on the inside of the cover and bears the Seamonster emblem on the outside. The case shows the inevitable signs of use over the years and presents very well indeed on the wrist. I could see no evidence of abuse, dents or scratches of any significance to point out to you.

Movement:  Omega 17 jewel manual movement, freshly oiled and adjusted by Richard my watchmaker, running strongly and keeping time. The movement comes out through the front of the case, after removing the crown and crystal. I do not have the tools to remove the movement for photographs but my watchmaker has confirmed that the movement is signed "Omega" and the correct calibre for the watch.

Strap: fitted with a new brown leather lizard grain strap which attached to the  watch measures approximately 214 mm from buckle tip to last hole.

Omega Watch Company History

The Omega Watch Company is one of the most famous high end  watch brands, highly sought after by people looking for well made, reliable timepieces. The company has its roots in Biel, in Switzerland where it was formed by Louis Brandt in 1848. The first watch to bear the Omega name was in 1894. The name was adopted by the company as a whole in 1903. Today the firm belongs to the Swiss watch trust of SHM. The company has been the official timekeeper for 21 Olympic Games and has been the supplier of watches to the NASA space programme since 1965. A manual Omega Speedmaster was worn by Neil Armstrong on the first successful lunar expedition when an astronaut stepped out onto the lunar landscape at 0256 GMT on 21st July 1969.  Omega has continued to develop its reputation for precision and innovation, presenting the world's first self-winding wristwatch with central tourbillon (launched in 1994) and the revolutionary coaxial escapement, developed in conjunction with renowned English master watchmaker George Daniels, first offered in a limited series in 1999

Terms of Sale

I pack my watches very well to avoid damage but very occasionally a problem may occur due to rough treatment in transit or the use of scanning equipment by Customs or the postal services which can magnetise the watch mechanism.  I warrant that the watch you purchase will, when you receive it, be as described in the listing.  If there is a problem when you receive your purchase I provide a no quibble full refund option. Alternatively I will undertake any repairs that are necessary if the watch is damaged or if in any other way differs significantly from the description.  If I have not stated that the watch has been serviced, you may wish to have this work done, particularly if you intend to wear the watch on a daily basis.  On request, I can provide you with details of independent watchmakers to whom you can send your watch for servicing.

I provide comprehensive details of my watches, including very clear photographs taken with a high resolution macro lens which shows detail not visible to the naked eye.  I also invite you to ask questions if there is anything else you need to know.  Please take care to consider the dimensions of the watch case as if it is a gentlemans’ Art Deco rectangular vintage watch, they were made significantly smaller than contemporary watches.

You are buying a used watch so there will be signs of use.  Please do not expect quartz accuracy from a vintage watch.  In the 1940’s/1950’s the accepted timekeeping tolerance for a new 17 jewel manual watch was within three minutes a day.  All of my watches are professionally inspected and tested before sale and if they are not running smoothly and keeping reasonable time I have them serviced and/ or have any other work undertaken that is needed to ensure the watch is in running condition.  However please bear in mind that a fault can develop unexpectedly at any time as with any used item so I am unable to provide any on-going warranty. Please also note that I provide no guarantee that my watches are waterproof. I would always strongly recommend keeping any vintage well away from moisture.
