THE BUILDING and MODELING OF AMERICAN HORSE DRAWN WAGONS BOOK by Jack L. Winegar

This new spiral bound (Spiral binding allows the modeler to lay this book flat on their workbench.) book describes and illustrates how to build models of a Box, Buckboard, Delivery Van, Dumper, Dray, Express Delivery,Farm, Grain-Tight, Log, Lumber, Tank and a RR Platform Wagon with the same materials as they were over 100 years ago - wood and commercial metal (brass)sizes. In 1:24 (1/2") scale with conversion factors for other major scales.

There is no doubt that a book like this has never, ever been offered. This book includes plans for 16 wagons which could have been found on farms and the streets of every town, village or city across the American Continent over 125 years ago. Also included is information on appropriate horse and Teamsters to control these beasts of burden.

Model horse drawn vehicles are splendid prototypes for the modeler who does most of his/her modeling on a kitchen table.

Skill levels required to build these wagon models vary. The Buckboard and Delivery Vans are the easiest. Anyone who has ever built model will have no problems with these. They will increase a modelers skills. There are plenty of options and details to build prototypical unique wagons by the most skilled finescale modeler.

The book is full of CAD drawings, which total over 230 9½ʺ x 13ʺpages of 70# paper (weighing almost 3 pounds) with over 700 pictures, illustrations, instructions, material lists and drawings plus historical data and photos of these vintage vehicles.

Plans were designed and drawn in CAD with 3-D renderings and printed in color with a professional graphic printer. Plans are fully dimensioned for 1:24 (½ʺ) scale modeling. These well designed CAD drawings which can be increased and reduced in size legibly with a good copy machine, as compared to blue print drawings with good line quality. A Scale Conversion sheet is included for many other popular scales. Admittedly, such scales as 1:120 to 1:220 would be quite a formidable tasks to build.

CAD printed drawings have the advantage over traditional blueprints because of the fact that details are more easily identified when printed in different line weight colors and since there is no confusing hand lettering. Our plans are designed to be easily understood by the novice.

Drawings are printed on 13ʺ x 19ʺ super B size sheets with booklet pages on 9½ʺ x 13ʺ, heavy 70lb acid-free/ECF-Free paper (complying with sustainable Forest Management procedures).

The present Vilas County Lumber Co. also has some 90 other Plan-Sets such as bridges, single stall engine house, several depots, derricks, various factories, grain elevators, barges and car floats, sheds, Sawmill,Shingle Mill, a tunnel portal and other lumber company buildings.

Plan-sets are sold for the non-commercial use of the purchaser only. Purchasers may build as many models as they desire for their own use.
