The tunic is a fixed and gender-spanning component of fashion from antiquity to modern times. But it experienced many different designs and meanings over the course of the ages.
Often indicated e.g. E.g. the length of the garment depends on the social status of the wearer. In ancient Rome, the texture of the tunic was mostly limited to two rectangular cloth flaps sewn on the shoulders, the Vikings and Germanic peoples wore the garment much less airy with sleeves and, against the cold, often as a combination of under- and overtunic.
Our short tunic Aegir gives an imposing appearance both with and without an under tunic, the effect of which is enhanced by the heavy and coarsely woven cotton fabric from which it is made.
