I've owned both of these Leicas for close to 10 years. I purchased the IIIC from a camera store in Billings, MT in 2009. A few months later I found the IIIF with the case, the Summaron 35mm lens, and the Elmar 90mm in Rapid City, SD. I decided you couldn't ever have too many Leicas around. I used both for about a year and then found a mint condition Olympus OM-4 kit and found I enjoyed the autowinder, so the Leicas stopped being used. It's a shame to just let them sit, so I'm letting them go. Rather than break the pair up, I thought I'd try keeping them together.

The IIIC works great, the rangefinder is clear and spot on, it winds up smoothly and the shutter (including bulb setting) seem to be accurate. Its serial number is 392355 but some of the black paint in the numbers has come out. I haven't tested the hot shoe on it, so I can't say whether it works, but everything else works perfectly. This camera came with the Summitar 50mm 1:2 lens and while it doesn't have any mold in the lens, there does seem to be some type of defect on one side. Thankfully, the IIIF has a beautiful condition 50mm, plus you are getting the 35mm and 90mm (more on those in a second).

The IIIF ended up being my favorite of the two, simply due to the advancements and improvements Leica made. Cosmetically, this camera is very nice. It has a few scuffs and one chip to the body skin. The individual I bought it from claimed to have purchased it new and used it to take photographs for the local newspaper in the late '50s. I'm not sure if that's true, but someone took great care of it. It works perfectly mechanically, the timer works great, hot shoe works and the remote shutter port even works (tested with a Nikon cable). The rangefinder is nice and clear on this one too. This one came with the leather case, it isn't a Leica branded one, but it is real leather and was made in America. It fits both cameras, but it lacks a cutout for the timer and subsequently looks better on the other camera. The serial number on this one is 508596. The 50mm lens that came with this one really is in great shape and even has the matching UVa filter, which is in perfect shape.

Now for the extra lenses. The 35mm Summaron is a great little lens and produced some of my favorite photos. The glass is nice, there's no mold and the aperture adjusts nicely. It comes with it both caps. Next up is the 90mm Elmar lens. Cosmetically, it doesn't look great, but it produces great photos. The glass is in nice shape and I haven't found any issues with it. The aperture goes from 4 to 36 and moves nicely. Comes with both caps as well. It's a little strange to shoot with it, given its length, but the rangefinder works perfectly with it.

It really is amazing the images you can get out of these cameras, especially for their age. I'll be sad to see them go, but I'm ready to upgrade my digital kit and want to see these two end up with someone that will use and enjoy them! It really is a lot of kit for the money and would cost you more to buy all the lenses, filter, case and camera bodies separately.
