We are both the oldest surviving members of our families. As life-long collectors, and inheritors from those who have Gone Before, we must move on some of our Stuff before that (hopefully far-off) day when it becomes our children’s responsibility. Happy to combine for cheaper postage but PLEASE WAIT for combined invoice from me or ask me for one; postage discounts can only be given on combined purchases paid for on a single invoice. International Buyers please note: Unless the postage method quoted on this listing is shown as Express Post / Courier International or Registered Post International, then your item is being sent at Large Letter rate which has NO TRACKING. If you require a more expensive method of posting which comes with tracking, please contact me before you pay. If you accept this cheaper method of posting, PLEASE BE PATIENT; 20-25 days is not uncommon for letter rate air mail delivery from Australia. AUSTRALIAN BUYERS: if your postage method is shown as Standard Delivery, it is being sent as a Large Letter which has NO TRACKING. If you would prefer to pay extra to add tracking please contact me BEFORE you pay.

ANTIQUE GILDED BRASS? ETUI CASE ONLY REPOUSSE ROMAN SOLDIER DECORATION EMPTY #16

This is an empty etui case – no tools (sadly). It has a loop at the top to attach to your chatelaine, and a compartmentalised interior designed to hold all the usual etui / necessaire tools. Repousse decoration of what look like Roman soldiers.  I have no real idea of age -  the design is very similar to some I have seen on-line that have been described as c1800. The depress catch does work but it is very stiff and needs adjustment – I will send it unlatched. The tool divider bit is just a metal facing on carved wood and lifts right out, so on the off-chance that you do not have etui tools to suit, you could remove it entirely and use it for something else. Approx 10 cms long, 3.5 cms diameter at the hinged part. Just over 2 cms deep at the widest part at the top hinge.

    My Items

The items I sell are vintage; they are second hand, old, sometimes very old. I try to describe and photograph my items honestly and to the best of my ability; however if pristine condition is very important to you, I feel you should be buying from a regular shop, where you can inspect the items personally. Please note that all my items are sold "as is", with no warranty implied, and that the photos form part of the description, which should be read carefully. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM PLEASE CONTACT ME FIRST.

Shipping and Payment Terms; Combining Items

If you win more than one item in a listing please wait for a combined invoice from me to save you on postage and insurance costs. I always wait until the last item in an auction listing finishes before sending invoices in case buyers win more than one item. If you win an item and are planning to bid on an item in a later-finishing auction, please email me to let me know, and I will wait until that auction has finished to send you a combined invoice.

I would normally expect payment within 5 days; if for some reason this is not possible, please contact me to explain.

Many of my items are very light and could be combined without much (or any) increase in postage costs. Once the value of a parcel exceeds $100 postal insurance must be paid. Within Australia this costs $4.45; Registered Post International varies - please ask for a quote.

International buyers please note: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or postage charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's Customs Office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (postage) company or when you pick the item up – do not confuse them for additional postage charges.

    Problem with a Transaction?

PLEASE contact me first. I am a reasonable human being; if there is a problem I am sure we can work something out that will satisfy us both. Involving eBay should be a last resort – something I hope will not be necessary. Contact Seller is the first option under More Actions on your Purchase History page, Contact Seller is top right of every listing, or simply Reply to the email I sent when I posted your item.

    Feedback – Late Shipment Rate

eBay’s newest measure to defect Sellers is the Late Shipment Rate. As we all know, Sellers do not PERSONALLY deliver packages. Once I take an item to the Post Office, delivery time is up to Australia Post or International Carriers. The estimated time of arrival that eBay gives is often grossly inadequate, especially to areas far from me, or overseas. If you choose to leave Feedback, eBay may ask you whether your item arrived within the estimated delivery time. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION; it is not compulsory, just as Feedback is not compulsory. If you are happy with the time of arrival, or know it arrived within the given dates, you can answer Yes if you want to. If you can’t remember, or realise that delivery times are beyond my control, I would encourage you not to answer the question. It has always been my policy to leave Positive Feedback when an item has been paid for and I have posted the parcel. I will always email you to let you know when that occurs, so you may know when to expect the parcel; if the parcel has tracking, I will let you know the number, and also upload it to eBay so that you can track its progress there.

Leaving Feedback is not compulsory; if you want to leave me Positive Feedback, then that is very nice and I appreciate it. If you have some problem with our transaction, and you feel like leaving me Neutral or Negative Feedback, please contact me BEFORE leaving Feedback so that we can work something out that will leave us both feeling happier. I always try to describe my items fully and honestly, and work hard to try and ensure that my buyers are satisfied. However I am only human; SHOULD a problem arise please contact me FIRST. Sorry about the length of this message; I assume that you may want to remain an eBay buyer, and hope that if you buy from me your experience will be a happy one. It is just that with the way things are changing, there may no longer be small sellers of vintage items (like me) on eBay to buy from.
