To vent your air conditioner or tumble dryer satisfactorily you will need two or possibly three things:

1) Something to block your open window - a vent-panel
2) A way of connecting your appliance's exhaust hose to the vent-panel
3) Any accessories we can supply to complete your installation

1) Ordering your vent-panel
a) Measure the apperture of your open window in centimetres to the nearest milimetre. (2.5cm will be added to each of these dimensions unless you use the word EXACT in the instructions that accompany your order)
b) Multiply the height in centimetres by the width in centimetres to get the area of in square centimetres.
The following are examples:
Height cm Width cm Area cm² Orientation What to order Maximum
H W H x W  Portrait/Landscape Vent-panel size Dimension
Example 1 35.2 57.0 2,006 Landscape Up to 4,000cm sq 116
Example 2 64.5 45.3 2,922 Portrait Up to 4,000cm sq 116
Example 3 117.8 49.8 5,866 Portrait Up to 6,844cm sq 116
Example 4 133 71.3 9,483 Portrait Up to 10,360cm sq 148

c) Select from the Hole size: dropdown - if you want to connect to your vent-panel using anything other than a circular connector of 4, 5 or 6 inch diameter, select Custom hole size/shape.
d) Add to your basket.

2) Selecting and ordering your connector
a) The following are possible (least expensive first):
    i) No connector - you are just going to put the hose through the hole or are buying a wall-flange with spigot (we recommend you do the latter before you place your order so you can be sure everything fits together and you can tell us where to drill holes (charged separately) to hold it in place).
ii) Wall-flange - if your air conditioner has come with a wall-flange (and some have a cap) this the least expensive custom option and you'll need to give us various measurements so we can put all the holes in the right places. You should also buy a set of bolts to hold it in place.
iii) Third-party wall-flange with spigot and female hose end connector - links to these are provided below and we advise you obtain them to ensure everything fits together before you place your order and by requesting a custom hole and providing measurements we'll be able to drill the bolt holes for the bolts which you'll also need to buy.
iv) Modified user-supplied slider - we take the slider you have been given with your appliance and modify it so it bolts onto the vent-panel and provides you with both a good seal and a way of easily and quickly attaching/detaching your exhaust hose.
    v) Custom adapter - where you want a good seal and convenience but are not going with either i) or ii) and you provide us with details and/or pictures of what's on the end of your hose.
b) Select "Custom hole size/shape" from the Hole size: dropdown.
c) Select "Modified user-supplied slider" or "Custom adapter" from the Vent panel size: dropdown.
d) Add your connector to your basket.

NOTE: A) If you don't yet have your air conditioner we recommend that you wait for it to arrive to see exactly what you get with it.
            B) The twinwalled polycarbonate is not either thick enough or strong enough for you to connect a fishtail to it and that's why we advise the purchase of a custom adapter.

3) Selecting accessories
a) Select anything from the
Hole size: dropdown.
b) Select the accessory you want from the Vent panel size: dropdown.
d) Add your accessory to your basket.

If you want to know what's best for your window/air conditioner and have your inquiry dealt with quickly you please send a message with all of the following (without this there may be a delay):
  • Photographs and dimensions of the aperture of your open window (Height, Width & Portrait or Landscape)
  • Photographs of the end of exhaust hose including any fishtail
  • Photographs any additional fitments such as a wall flange or window-slider that a fishtail would plug in to
  • Photographs of any window-slider the exhaust hose may be designed to plug in to
Note: You can send photographs using the eBay messaging system and it's against their terms for me to provide you with contact details.

    3. multiply the height and width in centimetres together to get the square centimetres of the panel required
    4. select the appropriate size of panel from the dropdown and add that item to your shopping basket
    5. place your order taking care to provide the HEIGHT (vertical) and WIDTH (horizontal) measurements (and say which is whichand tell us whether your window is LANDSCAPE or PORTRAIT the in the comments section. Example: Height: 107.2cm Width:45.8cm Portrait

    7. also provide in the comments section your telephone number and details of where the panel may be left if there is nobody in to receive them
    8. if in any doubt or you have any questions, please get in touch and send photographs
    9. please note that as all window vent-panels are made to measure you order may take up to 10 days to arrive
    10. be sure to add all the items you need to your basket before you order so P&P can be worked out correctly
    11. Note: if you want holes drilled to hold a wall plate with spigot in place please say so and this can be arranged for an additional charge.
The production of your vent-panel will not begin until all the necessary details have been provided.
Please check your email regularly after placing your order in case any further information is needed.

    IMPORTANT NOTES:
    • The vent-panel you receive will be 25mm bigger for each dimension you provide so it can overlap the window frame (we will add 25mm to the height you give us and 25mm to the width you give us giving 12.5mm overlap all round the window frame). If you want the panel cut to the measurements you supply please say that you want it cut to that EXACT size.
    • If you are fitting the vent-panel to a sash window say so, as the extra applied will only be 12mm and only apply to the width of the vent-panel. The height of the panel will be determined by the size of the hole requested.
    • As standard, your vent-panel will come with holes for the elastic cords. If you plan to attach the vent-panel using velcro or some other means and don't want any of these holes please specify NO CORD HOLES.
    • This is not precision engineering and so sizes and dimensions might differ slightly from those specified but we endeavour to cut so that no further modification is required; holes and exact sizes may be a fraction bigger than asked for.
    • Unless requested otherwise, the vent hole will be situated towards a corner of the panel. This will allow it, depending on how you orientate the vent-panel, to be top or bottom, left or right.
    • This is a made-to-measure item and refunds or returns are only available if there is a manufacturing defect.

    Tips
    • The seal around a vent panel can be improved by adding draught excluder where it makes contact with the window frame.
    • Do not overtighten the elastic cords as they will pull the fixing hooks off the window frame.

    Fitting and removal

Fitting and removing a window vent panel takes less than 30 seconds each way so take a look at this videohttp://bit.ly/WVPFitRemove to see just how easy and quick it is.

    Component detail

    • cut-to-size
    • taped edges (at least 3 edges will be taped, one may be the rounded edge of the twin-walled polycarbonate)
    • vent-hole of 100mm, 125mm or 150mm diameter or custom shape
    • made of durable, lightweight and insulating twinwalled polycarbonate sheet
    • fixing hooks
    • elastic cord
Connecting your hose to the vent-panel

The way in which you connect your air conditioner hose to your vent-panel will depend on what fittings you have and how easily you want to be able to connect/disconnect it from the panel. There are five options:

    1) Pass your hose through the hole in the panel (fifth - least best option as fiddly and untidy but cheap)

Just pass your hose through a hole of the right size and do whatever you need to do to seal the gap. Standard size holes are 4"/100mm, 5"/125mm and 6"/150mm but custom hole sizes can be cut - just select that hole size option and provide details of what you want.

    2) Third-party supplied spigots and connectors (fourth)

You buy separately the appropriate size of wall spigot and connector and specify the relevant size of vent panel hole, Links to these fittings on eBay are provided in this listing (below). We advise that buyers consider purchasing the female connector first to ensure that it will fit onto their air conditioner hose (hose sizes can be non-standard) before placing their vent-panel order.

You may want to include 20mm nylon bolts and/or 1m of 1mm x 10mm single sided foam tape with your order to provide a good seal when you fix the wall plate to your vent-panel but also allow it to be removed so the panel will store flat.

We can drill the bolt holes for the wall-flange but will need you to supply some dimensions to be certain we get them in the right place.

    3) Wall outlet/flange (best option if you have been supplied with one)

If your air conditioner has come with a wall outlet or flange that can be attached that to the vent-panel that provides the least expensive and most effective way of connecting the hose to a vent-panel. There are a number of different sizes of wall-flange and you will need to provide the external diameter of the pipe, the number of bolt-holes around the flange and their diameter so we can be sure to cut the right sized hole.  If it is not a standard size you will need to order a panel with a custom hole and should you order a set of bolts to hold the flange in place, we can drill the bolt-holes in the vent-panel for you.

    4) Modified user-supplied slider (second best if you have been supplied with one)

If your air conditioner has come with a window slider (a long plastic panel with a large hole in it) you can send it to us so it can be modified to fit onto your vent-panel and provide an airtight connection.

You may also have a hose end or fishtail adapter but no slider, in which case you may be able to buy a slider and have it sent straight to us for modification.  The address to which you will need to send your slider will be provided after you have placed your order.

    5) Custom adapter (third best option)

There are a number of hose ends or fishtails for which connectors are not available and for these we are able, subject to detailed specifications, to provide a custom adaptor - just select that item from the Vent-panel size dropdown.

    Wall spigots and connectors

You may want to order separately (these are links to items listed by other suppliers):
    of the appropriate size.

Accessories (add to your basket before ordering - select any size of hole)

Modified user-supplied slider (not usually bought without a panel to be fitted to)

Many air conditioning units come with a fishtail that is designed to plug in to a window slider (which is really suitable only for sliding windows) and the slider can be modified to be attached to your vent panel.

Select the vent-panel you want first and add it to your cart. Then select the modified user-supplied slider and add that.  Then pay for both items in the cart to get the postage discount.

    Spare fixings kit

An additional set of hooks if you want to be able to fit your vent-panel to another same-size window.

    1m of 1mm thick x 10mm wide foam double-sided adhesive tape

For fixing/sealing the wall spigot to the panel if required.

4 x 20mm white nylon bolts with wingnuts

For attaching a wall spigot or wall outlet securely to your panel

Feedback will be given when your feedback has been received - many thanks.
