Offered for sale is a large and beautiful antique CAKE STAND or SALVER, made by Adams Glass.  It has their ART pattern, aka JOB'S TEARS.  The pattern has a plain smooth top with bulging teardrop shapes forming the raised rim.  More teardrop shapes decorate the underside of the plate, and they show through the smooth glass top.  The stem is hollow, and decorated with more teardrop designs.  The cake stand was molded in two parts, and the plate was was joined to the stem with a molten-glass wafer when the stand was made.  This pattern was introduced in 1890.

The salver measures 9 1/4 inches (23.5cm) in diameter at the raised rim, and stands 7 inches (17.8cm) tall. A U.S. quarter is shown in the first three pictures, to give an accurate impression of the size at a glance.

It is in excellent condition.  There are no chips, cracks, repairs, discoloration or cloudiness, but there are some barely-visible scratches on the top surface, from gentle use.  All my items are from a SMOKE FREE home.  Watch for the other fine antique and EAPG glass items I'm offering this week!
