You are bidding on WWI German (Prussian) Iron Cross Medal – 2nd class.  The medal is used and is in good condition with a nice even patina throughout. The cross shows some signs of wear and age.  There is a maker’s mark on the ring that looks reads: “SW”. The Iron Cross was instituted on 10 March 1813 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia and was awarded for bravery on the battlefield as well as for excellent staff work in the planning and executing of operations during wartime conditions.
