What are Hair Extensions?
Hair extension is adding hair into your own hair by Tape Extensions, Wefts or Clip Inâs. They can be applied by a skilled stylist in a salon, but many people apply themselves sometimes with the help of a friend, it can be a fun thing to do, the transformation is amazing. Hair extensions can make you look and feel younger and more beautiful, with instant long and luscious hair that you wear on a regular basis.
You can sleep with them in, wash and care for it like your own hair. You can also cut and style to fit your look. Hair extensions are applied so that you can wear many different hairstyles. You will not be restricted to any one style! You can be as creative as you like! A hair extension makes thin or flat hair full, takes short hair and makes it long.
What is Tape Extensions?
Tape weft extensions are semi-permanent and very quick to apply they are applied quickly and easily. The pre-taped weft of hair is typically sandwiched on either side of the natural hair. Results are seamless.
How long will Tape Extensions last?
With proper care hair extensions can remain in your hair for about 6-8-10 weeks depending on how fast your own hair grows.  They will then need to be removed, have new replacement tapes applied to them, and then they are ready to be put back into your hair.  This can be done each time they creep down due to hair regrowth; your extensions should last with the correct care about 12 months.

What is a weft?

Hair wefts are like a contiguous hair extension they are sewn into your hair or microwefted. Rather than have "dozens" of extensions put in, a single weft can give you the look you want â thicker hair or longer hair! Our weft hair extensions are double wefted; they weigh-in at a generous 50 grams
What is Clip In Extensions?
Want a quick change that can be done on in no time at all, then Clip Ins are the perfect extension to use, so easy to put in your hair, they have small snap on clips that have a silicone guard so that they slip into the hair and will not damage it or slip out.

Sometimes a few strands of black or other colour hair appears in the extensions?
This is completely normal.  Sometimes you will find a strand of black, white or even a reddish colour hair amongst your extensions.  This is because not all human hair will take a bleach and colour.  Simply pick it out.  If it is more than a few random strands, notify us and we will happily exchange the extensions.  Must be done as per our terms and conditions, unused.

Will hair extensions hurt, or pull your own hair out?
NO. It may feel strange at first and you will know you have something in your head for the first day or two, but after that you wonât feel that they are there.
After putting in the extensions, can you wear your hair up?
YES. The extensions should not be applied lower than the base of your scalp (about even with the middle of your ears) and so your hair under this point covers the extensions while you wear your hair up.

Can I brush, curl blow dry and wash my hair extensions
For sure, this is your new hair. Curl it and have fun. Wash your hair when you feel it needs it you will find that your extensions hair will stay clean and curled for days. Please note hair will dry out sooner when using blow dryers and hot implement, so it is important that you use leave in conditioner.
What colour should I choose?
Choose a colour that matches your hair from the middle to the ends. Never choose colour that are at the roots, this is always darker. The blending of your hair at the bottom is most important; this will ensure that you get the most natural effect
Can you make highlight and lowlights using extensions?
Choose one colour to match your hair and another colour that you want for your highlights or lowlights, put them in alternate rows, the effect will amaze you.

Can the extensions be coloured
We do not recommend lightening, if your extensions aren't quite the right colour and you'd like to colour them at home, it is better when dying hair extensions to dye them from a light colour to a darker colour. It is better not to have too broad a range between the hair extensionsâ natural colour and the colour you want to change them to. You can select light blonde extensions and dye them to medium dark colours. To dye to very dark colours, select extensions that are medium dark.
Use gloves and a colour brush. It is important to be sure that you apply an ample amount of colour to completely saturate each section of your hair extensions. Be sure that the colour completely coats both sides of your extensions from top to the very ends. It is very important that you apply the colour starting at the top of the extension following the natural fall of the hair. Applying the colour upside down could result in damage to your extensions and will likely leave your extensions frizzy or dishevelled. It is always better to use too much colour than not enough. If you are colouring Tape Extensions make sure that you do not colour the tape bonds as this will damage them and they will not stay in your hair they will slip out.
If you are colouring your own hair there should be at least 48 hours before you apply your Tape Extensions, this is because your hair will swell when it is coloured and it needs  48 hours to settle, if not your tapes will slip out.

What type of hair extension products should I use?
Do not use any products that contain Alcohol, Ethanol, Oil or Protein
Any product that contains any of these elements will affect the adhesion of Tape Extensions.
Products for dry hair are the best to use.  Moisture is the most important thing; do not use products for oily hair or anything harsh, these leave the hair dry.  Use styling products that are zero alcohol.  Spray in conditioners is very important; they should be used every day.

How to wash and care for Tape and Weft extensions?
Brush out all knots before you wash your extensions with a soft bristle brush. Use a wide tooth comb or fingers to loosen the hair. Gradually wet the hair and brush gently before you completely wash it. When lots of water is added at once to very dry hair, hair can swell up and tangle.
Wash condition and moisturize your hair twice a week with warm or cold water. Extensions do not receive your natural scalp oils, so it needs to have moisture added after every wash. If you donât moisturize your hair extensions, they will become brittle and break.  Apply some good leave-in conditioner, but donât overdo it. Too much leave-in conditioners and other hair care products will create a build-up on the hair and will cause it to tangle faster. Do not use just plain water.
Spray in conditioner: This is a great product to use for extensions, use at least once a day.
Be careful with the use of blow-dryers and curling irons. Avoid applying heat to the bonded areas. The more you use the heat, the shorter your hair extensions will last.
Wash the hair immediately after swimming, spa, exercise, etc. When dirt and sweat accumulate, hair tangles. When swimming, always wear a cap to prevent exposure to chlorine or salt water which causes the hair to tangle. Always wash the hair right away with shampoo and conditioner after swimming in both types of water. When going to the spa, the hair should be wrapped in a cold wet towel.
NEVER sleep on wet hair. Make sure the hair is completely dry before going to bed. It is also recommended to wrap your hair together or gently tie it up to prevent tangling.

Wash and care for Clip In extensions.
Make sure to take them out of your head and wash and condition as below.
Use a shampoo and conditioner that is formulated for dry hair.
Brush out all knots before you wash your extensions with a soft bristle brush. Use a wide tooth comb or fingers to loosen the hair.
Fill the basin with Luke warm water and add one tablespoon of shampoo.
Place the piece in water and let soak for 5 minutes.
Rinse well in Cold or Luke warm water.
DO NOT RUB OR TWIST YOUR EXTENSIONS
Fill the basin with Cold or Luke warm water and add one tablespoon of LeaveâIn-Conditioner.
Let it soak for 5 minutes, DO NO RINSE OUT THE CONDTIONER
Place on a clean towel and blot up excess water.

At Direct Hair Extensions, we understand it can sometimes be tricky choosing the perfect set online and we never want our customers to be disappointed. We are more than happy to exchange or refund your Direct Hair Extensions.
We offer a full 30 day money back guarantee. Simply send the product back in original condition, within 30 days and we'll credit your PayPal/credit card or bank account the total amount of your order, minus $15 postage and handling fee for returns.

To qualify for a refund the set must be returned in unused condition. We cannot refund or exchange extensions that have been worn or altered. The DHE (Direct Hair Extensions) seal around the top of the wefts cannot be broken to ensure your return/exchange is not void... Please keep a hold of your tracking number you have used to send the product back to us; it is the responsibility of the customer to return the product safely to us.

Due to hygiene reasons we only offer refunds/exchanges on hair products that have not been opened, worn or tampered with. They CAN be removed from their packaging and be held up to your hair to ensure correct colour, but the seal around the wefts cannot be broken. And they must be returned with packaging and a copy of your invoice.
Australian domestic customers will be refunded the total product amount minus $15 AUD for shipping and handling per set. Overseas customers will be refunded the full order amount minus the shipping and handling paid.  If there are any faults with the product Direct Hair Extensions will replace the faulty product once the original product is returned. A refund in this case will only be eligible if a replacement product is un-available or if the returned product was not opened. Upon receiving your product, if there are any issues with clips, or a broken clip, then upon contacting us, Direct Hair Extensions will dispatch spare clips to your address on record

Returns/Colour chosen does not match
This is not a problem as long as the seal has not been broken they can be exchanged 
Human hair extensions are considered a hygienic product. We take matters of hygiene and public safety seriously and DO NOT ALLOW items that have the seal broken to be returned for the safety of all of our clients. This is for your protection
