Japanese have historically used paper as means of entertainment; origami, paper balloon, paper dolls, paper sumo wrestling, paper popgun, etc. What they all have in common is that a simple sheet of paper is turned dimensional to create a whole new toy. The 3D paper craft follows suit in spirit.
