    • Never allow like poles (south-south or north-north) to come into contact with each other because it will cause the magnet to be partially demagnetised.
    • Cast AlNiCo magnets are brittle; do not allow them drop to a hard surface, they will break, crack, chip or shatter.
    • Do not attempt to flex, they will snap.

All our Alnico magnets are cast, not sintered and are, therefore, magnetically stronger. They come in a range of grades from 2-9. Many uses call for Alcomax 3, Alnico V or Alnico 500 but these are all names for Alnico 5. These magnets are specifically designed for use with electric guitar pickups and are supplied unmagnetised (uncharged) for easy handling and pickup assembly.

Different Guitars require different magnets for different strings.

Useful Information

  • Tele® bridge pickups are always south up
  • Tele® neck pickups were north up but became south up in the mid 1950s
  • STRAT® were north up until 1960 when they became south up and remained this way with the exception of some of the newer models such as the 'Texas Specials'
  • From 1957 the JAZZMASTER has a north and south to make them hum-cancelling in the middle position. The same is true of the Jaguar, MUSTANG and Jazz Bass-paralleling Gibsons' new humbucking pickup
  • The P-Bass has one part of the pickup north and the other south to make it hum-cancelling. Early P-Basses with the Tele-style headstock had a Strat-shaped single coil pickup
  • Gibson P90s are always south up and the PAF humbuckers are south on the screwside and north up on the slug side.

Useful Products

  • To magnetise the rods, we recommend using two 25mm x 5mm diameter neodymium disk magnets; alternatively, why not have us magnetised the rods for you!
  • To determine the north and south of the neodymium disks and the resulting magnetism of the Alnico rod, we recommend using a Manual or Electronic Magnetic Pole Finder or Gauss Meter, a selection of which can be found in the testing equipment category; alternatively, why not have us mark the north pole of each magnet for you.

Lost Or Missing Post

We always send a dispatch notification on the day on which items are posted. We always obtain a proof of posting.

Within the UK

Royal Mail aim to deliver 1st class post in 1-2 working days and Tracked 48 within 2-3 working days. This timescale excludes the date of posting. However, Royal Mail state on their website that items are not considered lost until 15 working days after the date of posting (excluding the date of posting). Should your item be lost in the post, we have to wait until this time has elapsed (just in case Royal Mail deliver it) before we can instigate a claim for the lost package. If a package is lost, we send a replacement at the same time as we instigate the claim process.

Outside the UK

Depending upon where you are in the world, parcels should be delivered within 10 working days (excluding the date of posting) although to many parts of the world the normal is considerably less than this. However, Royal Mail state on their website that items are not considered 'lost' until 25 working days (5 working weeks) excluding the date of posting. Should your item be lost in the post, we have to wait until this time has elapsed (just in case it is delivered) before we can instigate a claim for the lost package. If a package is lost, we send a replacement at the same time as we instigate the claim process.

Cancellations and Returns

he Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (formerly the Distance Selling Regulations) provide consumers with the right to a 'cooling-off' period to allow you to change your mind. Under these regulations, you have the right to cancel your order, without explanation, within 14 days of delivery (starting the day after you receive the goods) and to return the goods for a refund within a further 14 days (28 days in total). The Distance Selling Regulations do not apply to businesses nor to individuals who are trading or acting as a trader (buying goods to re-sell for profit) because no-one is the 'Consumer'. This means there is no 'cooling-off' period and the order cannot be cancelled once processed.

Cancellations before dispatch

Regardless of whether you are a consumer, business or trader, we are happy to cancel any order before dispatch. Contact us using the contact seller option and we will cancel the order and initiate a refund. Please note that our cut off for same day dispatch is 12 noon. If you contact us less than 30 minutes before the cut off time, we may not be able to stop the dispatch of your order.

Returns after dispatch

Send us an email via eBay within 14 days of receiving your goods stating that you wish to cancel the order. All products must be returned in their original packaging and in re-saleable condition. Failure to adhere to this requirement may result in transit damage in which instance the goods will no longer be in saleable condition. In these circumstances, no refund will be given and the goods will remain your property and will be made available for you or your agent or courier to collect at your convenience.

  • The cost of returning the item to us is the responsibility of the customer and this will NOT be refunded.
  • We do not accept underpaid postage items so you must ensure that you pay sufficient postage for the return to be delivered.
  • Failure to re-use the original package may result in transit damage.
  • We recommend that that you use a registered delivery/postal service for your own security and peace of mind
  • Refunds are only issued upon receipt of the returned goods.

Faulty or Damaged Items

In the extremely unlikely event that your item is damaged during transit or is faulty, we will, at our option, make good any shortage or replace any damaged of faulty goods or refund you to the amount you paid for the product provided that you notify us of the problem, by email, within 14 days of delivery of the goods. Nothing in this clause affects your Statutory Rights. Either send us an email via eBay's 'Contact Seller' and include your name, address, telephone number, eBay Sales Record number or open an eBay case, in both instances, please provide details of the exact nature of the damage or fault. It would assist us if you would also send photographs of the damage or fault via eBay's messaging system. We may, while deciding the best course of action, contact you by telephone or email for further information. We will also contact you to notify as to how the problem is to be resolved.

In the event of a manufacturing defect, we may, at our decision, ask you to return the goods to us by recorded delivery. In this, and only in this instance, will the postage charge be refunded by us.
