Welcome to Antiques & Moore!

This listing is for an unusual English Sterling Silver inkwell with a the lid holding a pocket watch with pocket watch included.

The inkwell has its original clear glass fitted insert. The cover of the inkwell has a fancy engraved 2-letter monogram "E B" in the center. This top/cover is removed by turning slightly and then lifting off to expose the watch inside. The pocket watch has a silver case, a white porcelain face and a second hand insert. We have wound the watch and it is running, however, we have not inspected the watch for maker, etc. as we are selling this item as an inkwell. The hinge is tight and the inkwell opens and closes correctly. The base is wood lined. Marked with English hallmarks for Birmingham, Sterling, date letter for 1906 and maker's stamp for Cornelius Saunders & Francis Shepard in business in Birmingham from the 1890's-1930's.

Measures 2" high with the base being 3" in diameter. Weighs 185 grams (as shown).

This novelty inkwell is in very good to excellent Estate condition with the only noted flaws being two small faint dents on top near outside edge consistent with normal wear and age. The clock winds and keeps time although we have not watched it for a lengthy period so we can't guarantee it to keep accurate time for the entire cycle.

We welcome International buyers, however, please note that we as sellers have no control over random Customs inspections.  We are not responsible for any Customs charges incurred as a result of this purchase.
