DESCRIPTION

John Cowell was an English jurist who believed common law was the obstacle to a full union in Britain. He proposed an integration of English and Scottish law on the basis of greater conformity, the common law to civil law.

The book includes a dictionary of obscure legal terms that are used troughout the work.

Cowell covers topics from freedom, the duty of the judge, the act of robbery to those considered lawful kin.

Predates Bacon's English Law reforms.
