sorry, just gone up again in price ex UK June 23. The postage must also now be full parcel due to some Post Offices not honouring padded envelopes, mainly country... and no tracking on padded envelopes either.
WHOLE SET
of these giant critical nuts,
1 X RH
NUT, ***see
below, some cars 2 x RH
1X LH
NUT,
2 X
LOCK-WASHERS
separate parts are ok
to get separate, give me a hoy and I will list a special item for you.
These have 6 sides, so if yours have 8, then they're not the same (obviously)
Grab a
set right now ...and a pair of seals... then you'll be ready when
that hub leaks all over the brakes... i've seen these selling in Oz for $120 a set... don't get ripped off later when the mechanic has you by the balloons... They've often been buggered up by some cold-chisel-wielding maniac… use the ncorrect tool !!!!.... and you’d BETTER get that
lock tab/washer right… if it all comes undone, you’re really in strife !!!
I have
just been advised that pre 56 cars have 2 x RH nuts as below**. I can do
this, simply ask... the lock tab is super-important on these cars !!!!!!
strange tho, my 55 car has LH and
RH.. dunno... look , just be aware and the option is there... thx to neil for
bringing this to my attention
** Martin, definitely both right hand threads , changed to left and right
during '56.., I agree that it is dangerous but cannot change ends as they are
part of axle housing...inquiries with Austina30a35 club in UK has revealed that
this is correct and under heading "Hub Nut" on their website it gives
you the Austin Technical Notes when they changed over. I have tried hub nuts on
both sides and they are the same thread..I will have to keep checking the
nearside when I use car. I have checked thread spirals and definitely both
right handed.
Below is copy from Austina30a35 club website:
FWIW, I’ve located the Service Bulletin
covering the introduction of the L/H axle thread. It’s in Austin Service
Journal Vol 25, section Axle-Rear 20. Although dated 23rd March 1956, the
chassis number indicates a mid-55 change. Summary:-
“To ensure that the nuts securing the rear
hubs to the axle tube ends are always tight, right and left hand threaded nuts
have been introduced in place of the two right hand nuts.
Commencing car number 155227”
Regards Neil...hope you can assist
AUSTIN A30, A35, A40 FARINA MK1 AND MK2, MORRIS MINOR, MIDGET UP TO 1500..... The 1500 here in midget is the Triumph 1493 engine...
I believe all cars using the B-series engines incl 1500 (B) (ie not the same 1500) don't use these. eg wolseley 1500, riley 1500
Feel free to correct me.
To look
for items in my shop, the easiest way is to save any one of MY 1400 items in
your watchlist... Then, whenever you
want to peruse my 1400 items... simply click on the hyperlink called “visit
store” at the top right of this item.
That will take you to a page with my 40 store categories... click the
category, and that category will be
displayed with photos on the right... thus a “window-shop”.
Plodding
through the Ebay mire of the general search box... or the “see other items”
hyperlink is simply the way to insanity.
If you’re using Ebay’s useless mobile app, I’m
sorry... I have no idea how you will find them… this app is a real
shocker/compromise in quality and half the stuff is missing. Go to your PC
is my advice.
