DESCRIPTION

Providing a comprehensive and detailed examination of the 'old churches of the Channel Islands', McCormack notes the archaeological significance of different national and period styles that have influenced these buildings on the islands of Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Sark and Herm. Ranging from 'Normandy, Brittany, the Loire Valley and from as far away as the English West Country and the South of France', these influences are lovingly collected and accompanied by helpful illustrative vignettes and plates.

Signed by the author to the title page.

Featuring an author's ink dedication to the front free-endpaper:
'To Robin and Patricia-
and for Lihou Island, where much
of this book was put together-
November, 1986'.
