This beautiful antique photograph was made by the brothers T.A. & J Green during the 1880s. They had a studio in ENGLAND during the Victorian period, and have a picture of John Ruskin hanging in England's National Museum. They are known for platinum pronts, and I was told this is one, but it could be a daguerrotype for all I know.
The picture itself is 10.5"L x 8.5"H. It is stamped T.A. & J. Green Grasmere, in the lower right hand corner, beside a number 65. That must have been written on the negative.
It was mounted on an 18x14.5 piece of paper, that is in in an 18.5 x 15 gilded wood frame. It has a wood backing that appears to have been recently replaced, and has new masking tape holding it in place that should probably be made more permanent or replaced.
The large piece of backing has some water marks on the right side, but they don't come near the photo itself.
Please see pics as they speak volumes more than I can describe here.
