DESCRIPTION
Walter Savage Landor was an English poet and writer best remembered for his prose work 'Imaginary Conversations', containing prose dialogues between historical people of classical Greece and Rome. Whilst his work has been received with great critical acclaim, as a person Landor was decidedly unpopular amongst the public. He spent his whole lifetime quarreling with his father, neighbours, wife, and any authorities at hand who offended him. However, he won the friendship of many literary men, including Robert Southey, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Charles Lamb, Charles Dickens and Robert Browning, who were all greatly influenced by his works.
