Description: The Count of Monte Cristo is an adventure novel by French author Alexandre Dumas and is considered a literary classic. The story takes place in France, Italy, and islands in the Mediterranean during the historical events of 1815 to 1839, the era of the Bourbon Restoration through the reign of Louis-Philippe of France. The historical setting is a fundamental element of the book whose story is primarily concerned with themes of hope, justice, vengeance, mercy, and forgiveness. The Count of Monte Cristo centers on a man who is wrongfully imprisoned, escapes from jail, acquires a fortune, and sets about exacting revenge on those responsible for his imprisonment. His plans have devastating consequences for both the innocent and the guilty. This scarce edition is written entirely in Czech.
Condition: This scarce hardcover book set is in good to very good condition. There is wear and tearing on the original dust jackets (see pictures). The hardcovers are in good to very good condition (see pictures). The inside pages are in good to very good condition with no writing, no tearing, no creasing, and no bent corners. No pages are loose or missing. The vintage bindings are cracked on two of the volumes but secure (see pictures). Note: the pages have tanned with aging.
