DESCRIPTION

Includes his enormously influential philosophical Enquiry into the Origin of our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful. With an Introductory Discourse Concerning Taste, and Several Other Additions'. A few of these volumes are dedicated to Burke's correspondences including letters to Richard Shackleton and the Marquis of Rockingham. Included in his works are also the 'Reflections on the Revolution in France and 'An Address to the King'.

CONDITION

In full decorative cloth binding with gilt titles to the spine. Externally, generally smart, there is bumping and some small closed tears to a few of the spines. There is also loss to a spine on one volume, with the backstrip lifting on two volumes. The front hinge has failed to one volume. Internally, all volumes are bright and clean, generally firmly bound. There are bookplates to the front pastedowns bearing the name in Latin Michael Tomkins.
